Turning up the heat for CNY

As quickly as you can say “couture”, Chinese New Year is here again, right around the corner, and with it the absolute need for new clothes!

So this fashion addict went on the prowl again, sniffing my way from one boutique to the next. Remembering some of the great stuff I found at Parkson last year, I turned my attention there. And as anticipated, I was not to be disappointed!

The key word here is ‘Fusion”.

This year’s collection features Accent, Monica Quen, Quintessential, Country Road and more. From the casual-smart to the evening wear, lack of choice would be the last thing on your mind. Smart and sexy mixing of traditional Chinese prints and styles with modern urban chic gives that crisp *yummy* feeling. I know I felt that way while strutting up and down the imaginary catwalk!

Fashion aside, there’re loads and loads of cool stuff for kids, the home and much, much more at very agreeable prices. It was a whole day spent, but it was definitely worth it!

So if you’re looking for something different, head down to Parkson right now! They’ve got this fashion kitty purring already.

Mell-y Christmas!

Cucumbers! I need cucumbers to relax my eyes. And maybe an ice pack for my sore, sore feet…

Christmas shopping was as hectic and stressful as ever! I mean, where do all the people come from? To think that the holidays were supposed to be relaxing. Bah.

So there I was ambling along trying not to get crushed by the hordes of last-minute shoppers (like myself), absently wondering what I should get for myself this year with all the similar-looking stuff on display everywhere.

Then something caught my eye…

The most refreshingly vibrant colours and designs grabbed me and pulled me over like a magnet. I couldn’t resist! It was the latest stuff by Mell, also known as Melinda Looi, our very own, home-grown designer who’s making waves everywhere. I have to admit it was the first time I laid eyes on her designs, but they just absolutely blew me away!

Tops, pants, skirts, jackets, all tucked under my arm as I marched into the dressing room for what turned out to be a whole hour of mirror-dancing and supermodel-wannabe prancing. The designs are young, casual and fresh, yet not childish. Dear Mel definitely had us 20-somethings in mind when she etched out her designs. I felt like packing my bags for college again!

Definitely worth a look. Check Mell out at Parkson now!
