Turning up the heat for CNY

As quickly as you can say “couture”, Chinese New Year is here
again, right around the corner, and with it the absolute need for new clothes!

So this fashion addict went on the prowl again, sniffing my way from one boutique
to the next. Remembering some of the great stuff I found at Parkson last year,
I turned my attention there. And as anticipated, I was not to be disappointed!

The key word here is ‘Fusion”.

This year’s collection features Accent, Monica Quen, Quintessential,
Country Road and more. From the casual-smart to the evening wear, lack of choice
would be the last thing on your mind. Smart and sexy mixing of traditional
Chinese prints and styles with modern urban chic gives that crisp *yummy* feeling.
I know I felt that way while strutting up and down the imaginary catwalk!

Fashion aside, there’re loads and loads of cool stuff for kids, the
home and much, much more at very agreeable prices. It was a whole day spent,
but it was definitely worth it!

So if you’re looking for something different, head down to Parkson right
now! They’ve got this fashion kitty purring already.

Mell-y Christmas!

Cucumbers! I need cucumbers to relax my eyes. And maybe an ice pack for my
sore, sore feet…

Christmas shopping was as hectic and stressful as ever! I mean, where do all
the people come from? To think that the holidays were supposed to be relaxing.
 Bah.

So there I was ambling along trying not to get crushed by the hordes of last-minute
shoppers (like myself), absently wondering what I should get for myself this
year with all the similar-looking stuff on display everywhere.

Then something caught my eye…

The most refreshingly vibrant colours and designs grabbed me and pulled me
over like a magnet. I couldn’t resist! It was the latest stuff by Mell,
also known as Melinda Looi, our very own, home-grown designer who’s making
waves everywhere. I have to admit it was the first time I laid eyes on her
designs, but they just absolutely blew me away!

Tops, pants, skirts, jackets, all tucked under my arm as I marched into the
dressing room for what turned out to be a whole hour of mirror-dancing and
supermodel-wannabe prancing. The designs are young, casual and fresh, yet not
childish. Dear Mel definitely had us 20-somethings in mind when she etched
out her designs. I felt like packing my bags for college again!

Definitely worth a look. Check Mell out at Parkson now!

After buying the amazing CK Euphoria perfume, I felt like it was time I did
some shopping for myself. Let’s see, what do I really need for the coming
year….

Finally after 10 minutes of pondering, I have decided that I should get myself,
a Sheridan Bedroom Set!

I have had my eyes on the Red Aloha set for a while now. At least with the
holidays creeping up soon, I would have a good excuse to pamper myself with
this designer bedroom set. You see; my room feature wall is a dark shade of
red and my bed frame is made from dark wood. Hence the Red Aloha would be perfection,
with just a mild tinge of red, it would definitely be a comfy pad.

Calvin Klein Euphoria

Last weekend on the way to a café nearby to meet a friend, a particular
guy caught my attention. Why, you might ask.

As he walked past, a whiff of his intoxicating scent was mesmerizing. I wondered,
what scent could that be? It was an addictive masculine freshness yet sexy
scent.

I tapped his shoulder gently and he turned. He looked neat, clean-shaven with
eyes in the lightest shade of brown I have ever seen. Nervously I asked him, “What
perfume are you wearing?”

He answered “Euphoria by Calvin Klein”. Hurriedly I thanked him
and went to the café.

The smell was just so addictive I couldn’t help asking for more. While
sitting down with my friends, all I could think about was to smell the strong
and bold, yet sophisticated and distinctive scent once again.

You know what happened next? I bought the perfume. Even though I am not a
guy, I could buy it, couldn’t I? I could give it to a friend for Christmas!

Would you like a sneak preview of how the pretty bottle looks like? You’ve
got to believe me when I mention that it is amazing. Not only is it sleek and
sexy but also the glass bottle is encased with a distinctive silver metal frame
and is topped with a rectangular aluminium cap. The outer carton is a burnished
platinum bronze colour with a sensual matte finish.

Shirt-Savvy with Smalto

From a man’s point-of-view, the only thing worst than having to buy
new clothes is in having to go hunt for one.

Imagine my chagrin when I received a wedding invitation and my girlfriend
insisted that I go buy a new shirt for the occasion. So grudgingly I set out
to “shop”, trudging from one store to another, searching for a
shirt that would get her “stamp of approval”.

A friend suggested that we try this brand called “Small Toe”.
Interesting as the name was, we decided to go take a look. As it turned out,
Smalto By is an Italian brand specializing in designer shirts and ties for
men. I was impressed by the large range and many different and fresh-looking
designs the brand had to offer, and I found myself interested all of a sudden.

Being Barbie-beautiful…

It was one of those days when you’re made to feel out-of-date…

I was walking aimlessly around a mall, wondering what to get for my little
6-year-old niece’s birthday when I decided to check Parkson out. Browsing

Star-struck at the Parkson Charity Music Festival 2006

Flabbergasted. Absolutely flabbergasted.

That’s how most of us in the crowd felt when Ning Baizura sang Teresa
Teng’s The Moon Represents My Heart, in Mandarin! It was truly an unforgettable
night at the Parkson Charity Music Festival 2006 at Stadium Putra Bukit Jalil.

The likes of Eric Tsang, Alan Tam, Joey Leung, Chen Fala, Elaine Yiu, Wong
Ka Keung, Daniel Chan, Vivien Yeo and Ning Baizura lighting up the stage was
definitely an experience to savour for a lifetime! They had us clapping and
singing along to evergreen songs people my age grew up with. Mom was enjoying
herself too!

Mom and I decided to get front row tickets as the event was organized for
a good cause. The concert was in aid of Kuen Cheng School's Redevelopment Fund
and the Lion-ASM Foundation, which aids poor children’s education and
such. As it turned out, we were not disappointed one bit! :-)

I’m a sucker for cute things…

Adjective: cute (cuter, cutest)
1. Attractive especially by means of smallness

2.	Obviously contrived to charm.

Yes.. cute. That is what Benefit is... absolutely cute! I mean, how can anybody

cuz it’s even cuter!

Oh... how I love that warm fuzzy feeling..

Jackets, cardigans, sweaters, pashminas, shawls and the like.. What’s the similarity between all these things? Well, all of them work to keep you warm, of course!
